Wounded

This is a picture of my cousin Ashley, his wife Karen, and their son Scott. This week, my cousin's older son was seriously injured in Afghanistan. I have been complety detached from the war, until now. I ache for what their family is going through, and for the amount of pain he is in. Ross is a member of the British Special Forces. His group had been called in to blow up a building that was being used to pick off British troops. After lighting the fuses, he stepped on a hidden land mine as he was running away. They feel lucky that he was running at top speed when he stepped on the land mine, because it probably would have killed him if he was walking. He arrived back in England on Thursday. He has shrapnel all over his back and arms, but his main injuries were to the lower half of his body. He is in so much pain that he doesn't know where he is. He will need many surgeries and months in the hospital.

I am grateful for the American and British troops fighting to protect the freedoms we enjoy. I am grateful for all of the sacrifices that have been made, and realize that eventually these sacrifices will hit close to home for some, if not all of us. Please remember to pray for the soldiers and their families.
