We have a tradition on the first day of summer. We start the morning with a special breakfast. This year is was chocolate-chip pancakes with strawberries and cream. WOW! It was more like dessert than breakfast :)
Then the kids get hair-cuts. Hayden wanted his hair buzzed, but first we wanted to see what he would look like with a mohawk.
Next year we decided to shave all of his hair on top of his head first, and leave just the sides, so we could see what he would look like as an old man :) I had a hard time recognizing him all day. The buzz is fun, but I miss his curls.
Callie wanted a short hair cut above her shoulders. I was a little sad to see her long hair go, but she was thrilled. She is so happy with her short hair.
On the first day of summer, we also talk about what fun things we want to do and what goals we are each going to set. We brainstorm our fun plan, and each pick 2 goals we want to accomplish. Then I cut it out of vinyl and stick it to our fridge so we see if everyday. We did this for the first time last year, and it was fabulous! We accomplished so many goals that summer, and did EVERYTHING on our fun list. It is a tradition for now on.

I saw your fams pics on Erin's blog. Love your haircut. What a babe. I also love your start to summer traditions. I might have to copy them--off to a little slow start--not unusual.
Cute idea with the summer goals! I was just thinking today that I need to get organized for the summer. That seems like an oxymoron though doesn't it? Isn't part of the beauty of summer that you don't HAVE to be organized???? But if you don't the kids go crazy and if the kids are crazy, then mom is crazy:) So I might just have to steal your idea too!
